Profile of H. E. Mr. Md. Nazmul Islam
Ambassador of Bangladesh to Sultanate of Oman

Ambassador Md. Nazmul Islam is a career diplomat and a member of the Bangladesh Foreign Service.

In the course of his diplomatic career spanning over 27 years, Mr. Islam has held a variety of positions in Dhaka and Bangladesh Missions in London, Jakarta and Beijing. He also served as Consul General in Jeddah.

Prior to his arrival in Oman on 19 June 2022, he served as the Bangladesh Ambassador of Sweden, Norway and Finland stationed in Stockhalm for nearly 5 years. He earlier served in the Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Director General responsible for Administration. He also worked as Director General of the West and Central Asia Wing in the Ministry. Earlier, he served as Director of the West and Central Asia and the Far East Wings in the Ministry.

Mr. Islam graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET).  He did Executive Course at the Asia-Pacific Centre for Security Studies, Honolulu, USA.

His areas of interests are sports, music and issues related to migration.

He is married to Mrs. Nuzhat Nazmul and has one son and one daughter.
