H.E. the Ambassador had an official meeting with the Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) Engr. Redha Juma Al Saleh at his office on 22 October 2022. The conversation took place in a very cordial atmosphere and several important issues on the trade and investment promotion were discussed.

As a part of Embassy’s efforts to expand Oman-Bangladesh relations in the field of trade and investment, H.E. the Ambassador took this occasion to brief him elaborately about the prospects that Bangladesh offers for the Omani businesspeople and investors. He mentioned that Omani importers can be benefitted from importing some high-quality Bangladeshi products in competitive price – like agro-based products and ready-made-garments, ceramics, furniture and medicine, He further suggested that Omani companies can export fertilizers or establish fertilizer manufacturing factory and cement factory in Bangladesh. He apprised that Omani investors could avail the generous incentive package offered by the Government of Bangladesh while investing in the 100 Economic Zones of Bangladesh. He proposed the Chairman to undertake a business delegation to interact with their counterparts in Bangladesh to discuss bilateral trade and investment issues to tap the full potential in this avenue and suggested him to visit during ‘Made in Bangladesh Week’ to be held on 12-18 November 2022 in Dhaka.

During the conversation, Chairman Redha Al Saleh citing the excellent brotherly relations between Bangladesh and Oman mentioned that the bilateral trade figures needed further boost up. He expressed his interest to work together with the two governments and the business communities to uplift the economic partnership. He expressed his intents to take a business delegation to Bangladesh at the first half of 2023.
